This past weekend we enjoyed a full two days of birthday celebration as Saturday night was the annual Gurgaon Connection Red Bash and Sunday we enjoyed Sunday Brunch at Zest. My birthday started Saturday night at 12:05 am with 168 expats singing Happy Birthday and Sunday evening with a romantic comedy "LOVE HAPPENS" and a bottle of delicious imported wine. Saturday night we danced the night away and Sunday we enjoyed celebrating my birthday with 10 other friends at a gorgeous restaurant called S'etz (pronounced Zest) in Vasant Kunj's Emporium Mall. It was my first time eating fish in India. They had beautiful salmon, sushi, and dim sum in addition to a full buffet of salads, desserts, and everything else a person could ever want.
The highlight of my birthday was of course spending it with friends, but a close second and third were almost getting set on fire by the waitress and the bathrooms of S'etz. As you can see in the below picture the waitress decided to tip the flaming sparkler directly at my head during lighting and luckily our fast fingered friend Lindsay snapped a picture during this exact moment. An absolutely priceless picture and a moment I will never forget. Second, the toilets at S'etz were an actual experience and conversation piece. The NEOREST 300 claims to be the first automatic toilet in India. The toilet seat automatically goes up as you approach the toilet and then you sit down to discover the heated seat and panel of button options. You can choose the pulsate button for a massage, front spray, back spray, or dryer. As a curious South Dakotan who doesn't get out much I had to experiment and press all the buttons. A true "cultural" experience!
I would like to give a big thank you to Ben for giving me a wonderful birthday weekend and my friends who made it truly special.
