3 Weeks!

Today our little baby girl is 3 weeks old. She weighed in at exactly 4000 grams (8 lb. 13 oz.) today, which is what I happened to weigh when I was born. My midwife says she is doing excellent and is amazed at how fast she is gaining weight. She gained double the anticipated grams in one week, which just shows she likes to eat. In addition to eating she is also getting more alert and active. She can fling her arms and kick her legs in an aerobic type form. She smiles here and there, but is yet to coo back at us. Her eyes seem to be able to follow objects better and she loves to look into the light. Her little arms and legs are starting to fill out and her stomach is rounded. She was born with a pressure bump on the right side of her head that the doctors have assured us will go away, but at this point it is yet to reduce in size. We just have to be patient and know that it is not permanent and that there was nothing we could have done to prevent it from happening. One of those things that looks worse than it actually is, but doesn't bother her. Ella is still a very happy and healthy little girl.
