Auf Wiedersehen Freiburg

Today I finished and successfully passed German Level A 2 with the Goethe Institute in Freiburg. A great feeling to be finished with studying German grammar everyday. I have the next six months in India to study before returning to Germany next January for vacation. I enjoy having a goal to work towards.

My favorite part of Freiburg is the small streams (der Bach) that run through the city. When I say small I mean tiny. They were originally meant to fight fire, but now they are popular in the summer for people to sit and cool their feet. They literally run throughout the entire old city and provide great entertainment for kids with little boats. The local saying is that when you fall accidentally into one of these small streams that you will marry a local Freiburger. Thankfully I never fell in so I will stick with Ben. The attached pictures show der Bach.

Teuer Zurich

Teuer(pronounced toy-er)means expensive in German and is the best word to describe Zurich, Switzerland. The capital city of Switzerland is a beautiful city 2 hours south of Freiburg, Germany by bus. A financial mecca that sits on magnifiscent Zurich Lake and houses 380,000 inhabitants. The metro area has around 2 million people. I found it to be a very large mix of cultures and probably some of the richest people in the world. Honestly I am not sure how a person could afford to live in Zurich as food alone made Paris look cheap. The Reitberg Museum and Zurich City Fest 2010 were the two main events I took in during my July 4th trip south.
